Seungkyu Byun is a partner in SEUM’s corporate group. He focuses his practice in the areas of M&A, cross-border investment, and general corporate transactions. His practice focuses on corporate law, mergers & acquisitions, cross-border investment and general corporate transactions, and Seungkyu represents public and private companies in industries such as software, hardware, information technology, blockchain/cryptocurrency, startup incubation and fintech.

  • Advise and represent Bungaejangter Inc., one of the largest community-powered online shopping platforms, in connection with regulatory and general corporate matters, as well as investment financing


M&A / Venture Capital / Investment

  • Represented shareholders of Bungaejangter Inc., one of the largest community-powered online shopping platforms, in connection with a sale of shares to NAVER Corporation, a publicly listed leading internet portal and mobile platform services company
  • Represented Lezhin Entertainment, Korea’s leading webtoon, web comics, and online manga company, in connection with a KRW 5 billion (USD 4.8 million) investment from NCSoft, a listed company and one of Korea’s leading game developers
  • Represented Hes Capital Partners Co., a Korean private equity fund, in connection with an investment in PNC Industries, a Korean cosmetic company specializing in facial sheet masks
  • Represented Legend Capital Management Co., Ltd., the China-based private equity and venture capital arm of Legend Holdings Ltd. making investments in a broad range of companies, in connection with an investment in BigHit Entertainment, a Korean entertainment company
  • Represented Rainbow Castle Investments Limited, a China-based venture capital fund, in connection with a KRW 12 billion (USD 10.7 million) investment in Bifido, a Korean bitotech startup focusing on probiotics based food technology
  • Represented LINE Corporation, a Japan-based mobile messaging and communication services platform company that provides services in various areas such as messaging, communication and content sales, and advertising services, in connection with its acquisition of Wit Studio, a company that develops software for UI designers and developers
  • Represented NHN Entertainment Corp., a publicly listed developer, publisher and distributor of mobile and PC games, in connection with its acquisition of Ticketlink, an online ticket reservation platform
  • Represented shareholders of Hello Nature, an online agriculture-based farm to consumer distribution service, in connection with its sale of shares to SK Planet, a subsidiary of Korean conglomerate SK Telecom that focuses on internet platform development
  • Represented Fluenty, a Korean startup developing interactive artificial intelligence platforms, with respect to the sale of its key technology and assets, as well as transfer of its employees, to Samsung Electronics
  • Represented shareholders of Fly&Company Inc., the company operating mobile food delivery app Foodfly, in connection with sale of their shares to RGP Korea, the Korea-arm of Berlin-based Delivery Hero Group
  • Represented Fly&Company Inc., the company operating mobile food delivery app Foodfly, in connection with issue and sale of Series B Preferred shares to RGP Korea, the Korea-arm of Berlin-based Delivery Hero Group.
